Pet-sitting fees

As your House Sitter, we will be taking responsibility for your household for the duration of our stay. This may include the responsibility of caring for your pets.

We are currently seeking a long-term (over 60 days) housesit beginning early May 2010 in Dartmouth, Halifax, Lake Echo, Cole Harbour, Musquodoboit or the Eastern Passage of Nova Scotia.

For long housesits (over 60 days), there is no fee for pet care.

For housesits of 60 days or less, our fees for pet/animal care, including overnight stays in your home, are as follows:

Number of pets*
Cost per day
1-2
$50
3-4
$65
5-6
$80

(*a tank of fish, lizards, or frogs count as one pet)

For short housesits, our fee for petcare is due on the day you leave.

Specific care requirements obviously differ depending on the nature of the pet, but generally anything and everything normally associated with responsible pet ownership is expected to be attended to, including regular feeding, grooming, exercising, any vet needs, etc. Any costs of these items (such as vet bills) are born by the Home Owner, but the House Sitter makes certain they are taken care of.

Both parties should agree as to what is expected of the House Sitter regarding pet care and key details should be recorded, such as names and contact details for the Home Owner's regular vet, etc.

The cost of all pet foods, any grooming parlour visits, any vet's bills, pet license renewal, etc. are naturally at the Home Owner's expense and reimbursed to the House Sitter, according to receipts we will provide upon your return.

Alternatively, the Home (and Pet) Owner may decide to make alternative arrangements such as boarding kennels or having a relative or friend look after the pet.

Sable is accustomed to either (a) staying in the car when we are doing 1/2 hour pet visits, (b) walking with some of our regular dogwalking clients, (c) living in a household with other pets, and (d) living in an RV campground with other pets around. She also has a couple of 'pet friends' whose houses she visits frequently. She is quite socialized and usually only takes a little acclimation to get accumstomed to new friends.

Rest assured, we *love* pets of all kinds, and will care for your animals as if they were our own while you are away, and keep them as happy as possible until you are able to return to them.
